If maternal grandmother does not have a caregiver in Vietnam, do grandchildren have obligation to take care of her? My parents died, do I have to raise my brother in Vietnam?
Hello, my maternal grandmother has only my mother who is her child. However, my mother passed away 5 years ago, now my maternal grandmother is living alone and has no one to take care of her. Please ask, do grandchildren have obligation to take care of her? I have a younger brother, do I have to raise him or not? Please advise, thank you.

In Article 104 of the Law on Marriage and Family 2014, rights and obligations of paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents and grandchildren are as follows:
1. Paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents have the right and obligation to look after, care for and educate their grandchildren, lead exemplary lives and set good examples for their children and grandchildren; for minor grandchildren, adult grandchildren who have lost their civil act capacity or have no working capacity and no property to support themselves and no raising people as prescribed in Article 105 of this Law, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents have the obligation to raise these grandchildren.
2. Grandchildren have the obligation to respect, care for and support their paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents; for paternal grandparents or maternal grandparents who have no children to raise them, their adult grandchildren have the obligation to raise them.
Article 20 of the 2015 Civil Code provides the following:
1. Adults are persons who are eighteen years of age or older.
2. Each adult shall have full legal capacity, except for the cases prescribed in Articles 22, 23 and 24 of this Code.
According to current regulations in Vietnam, in case you are 18 years or older and your maternal grandmother has no children to raise, you have the obligation to raise and take care of her.

Article 105 of the Law on Marriage and Family 2014 provides for rights and obligations of siblings as follows:
Siblings have the right and obligation to love, care for and assist one another; in case they no longer have parents or their parents have no conditions to look after, raise, care for and educate their children, they have the right and obligation to raise one another.
According to this Article, in the event that both father and mother die, you must take care of your younger brother in Vietnam.
