Identity Card issued in 2010, must it be changed to Citizen Identification Card?
Article 38 of the Law on Citizenship Identification 2014 stipulates:
The Identity Cards issued before the effective date of this Law are still valid until the expiration date as stipulated; citizens may request to convert them to Citizenship Identification Cards.
Clause 1, Article 1 of Decree 170/2007/ND-CP amending Decree 05/1999/ND-CP stipulates:
"The Identity Card is rectangular, 85.6 mm in length, 53.98 mm in width, with two sides printed in light blue white patterns. It is valid for 15 years from the date of issuance."
Thus, your Identity Card issued in 2010 is still valid and does not need to be converted to a Citizenship Identification Card at this time. However, from July 6, 2025, your Identity Card will expire, and you will need to proceed with the procedure to convert it to a Citizenship Identification Card.
Respectfully!
