How to Look Up Information for Issuing a Criminal Record Certificate
According to Article 47 of the Law on Judicial Records 2009, information search for issuing Judicial Record Certificates is regulated as follows:
In case the individual issued with a Judicial Record Certificate has only one permanent residence in a single province or centrally run city since reaching 14 years of age, the judicial record information search shall be conducted at the Department of Justice of the place where the person resides.
In case the individual issued with a Judicial Record Certificate has resided in multiple provinces or centrally run cities since reaching 14 years of age, the judicial record information search shall be conducted at the Department of Justice that receives the request and the National Center for Judicial Records.
In case the individual issued with a Judicial Record Certificate is a Vietnamese citizen who has resided abroad or is a foreigner, the judicial record information search shall be conducted at the Department of Justice that receives the request and the National Center for Judicial Records.
In case the place of permanent residence or temporary residence of the individual issued with the Judicial Record Certificate cannot be determined, the judicial record information search shall be conducted at the National Center for Judicial Records.
