How to Adjust Personal Information on the Birth Certificate That Differs from the Household Registration Book
At Article 6 of Decree 123/2015/ND-CP guiding the Law on Civil Status, it is stipulated:
- The birth certificate is the original civil status document of an individual.
- All dossiers and documents of an individual containing information about their surname, middle name, first name; date of birth; gender; ethnicity; nationality; place of birth; and parent-child relationship must be consistent with that individual’s birth certificate.
- In cases where the contents of an individual's dossiers and documents differ from the contents of their birth certificate, the head of the agency or organization managing the dossiers or issuing the documents is responsible for adjusting the dossiers and documents to match the contents of the birth certificate.
=> Therefore, according to the above regulations, if the personal information of an individual on the birth certificate and the household registration does not match, adjustments must be made to match the contents on the birth certificate.
