How Old Can a Child be for Adoption?
Pursuant to Clauses 1, 2 Article 8 of the 2010 Adoption Law, the regulations on individuals eligible for adoption are as follows:
- Children under 16 years of age.
- Persons from 16 years old to under 18 years old if they fall into one of the following cases:
+ Being adopted by a stepfather or stepmother;
+ Being adopted by a paternal or maternal uncle, aunt, or grandparent.
According to this regulation, only children under 16 years old can be adopted. Persons from 16 years old to under 18 years old can only be adopted if they fall into one of the above-mentioned categories. Individuals over 18 years old cannot be adopted.
