How Much Money is Received for Kidney Donation?
Pursuant to Article 5 and Clause 1, Article 11 of the 2006 Law on Donation, Removal and Transplantation of Human Tissues and Organs, and Donation of Cadavers, the rights concerning the donation of tissues, organs, and cadavers are stipulated as follows:
Individuals who are eighteen years of age or older, with full civil capacity, have the right to donate their tissues, organs while alive, after death, and to donate their bodies. Additionally, they have the right to express their wishes to donate their tissues and organs with a medical establishment.
Alternatively, tissues and organs may only be removed from living individuals who have registered for donation. In emergency situations where tissue transplantation is required or tissue is needed for the transplantation for parents, siblings, it is permissible to remove tissue from individuals who have not registered for donation if they consent (Article 14 of this Law).
The benefits for individuals who have donated tissues, human body parts include: (Article 17 of this Law)
- Individuals who have donated tissues shall receive free health care and recovery at the medical establishment immediately after the donation.
- Individuals who have donated body parts have the following benefits:
+ Receive free health care and recovery immediately after donating body parts at the medical establishment and receive free periodic health check-ups;
+ Receive a free health insurance card;
+ Be prioritized for tissue and organ transplant when indicated by the medical establishment;
+ Be awarded a Commemorative Medal for People's Health as stipulated by the Minister of Health.
It is evident that the donation of tissues and organs while alive, after death, and body donation is a wish based on voluntariness. Furthermore, the law strictly prohibits the removal, transplantation, use, and storage of human tissues and organs for commercial purposes. Therefore, your intention to donate an organ in exchange for money is not in accordance with the regulations.
