How Many Copies of the Certificate of Marital Status Can Be Issued?

Clause 2 Article 23 of Decree 123/2015/ND-CP stipulates:

Marital status confirmation certificates are used for marriage at competent Vietnamese authorities, marriage at competent foreign authorities abroad, or for other purposes.

According to this regulation, besides the purpose of marriage, the marital status confirmation certificate can also be used for other purposes (depending on the requester's need, such as for buying or selling a house, etc.).

Additionally, Clauses 3 and 4 Article 12 of Circular 04/2020/TT-BTP also provide regulations on the issuance of marital status confirmation certificates as follows:

In case of requesting a marital status confirmation certificate for marriage purposes, the civil registration authority issues only one (01) certificate to the requester.

In case of requesting a marital status confirmation certificate for purposes other than marriage registration, the requester does not need to meet the marriage conditions; the marital status confirmation certificate must specify the purpose of use and has no validity for marriage registration. The number of marital status confirmation certificates issued is according to the request.

Thus, according to the regulations, a marital status confirmation certificate for marriage purposes is issued in only one (01) copy, while for other non-marriage purposes, the number of copies issued is unlimited according to the requester's need.
