From July 1, 2021, what is the required area for house rental to register for permanent residence?
Clause 3, Article 20 of the Law on Residence 2020 (Effective from July 1, 2021) stipulates the permanent residence registration as follows:
Except as provided in Clause 2 of this Article, citizens are allowed to register permanent residence at a legal residence by renting, borrowing, or staying temporarily when the following conditions are met:
- The owner of the legal residence agrees to allow the permanent residence registration at the rented, borrowed, or temporary location, and the household head agrees if registering for permanent residence within the same household;
- Ensuring the minimum housing area condition as stipulated by the Provincial People's Council but not less than 08 m^2^ floor area/person.
In cases of registering permanent residence at a legally rented place, the minimum rental area must be 08 m^2^ floor area/person. This is a newly added condition compared to the permanent residence registration regulation in the Law on Residence 2006.
Respectfully!
