Does the Citizen Identity Card Have an Expiration Date?
At Article 19 of the Law on Citizen Identification 2014, it is stipulated the eligibility for the issuance of Citizen Identification Cards and the Citizen Identification Card number as follows:
Vietnamese citizens from the age of 14 are eligible for a Citizen Identification Card.
The Citizen Identification Card number is the personal identification number.
At Article 21 of the Law on Citizen Identification 2014, the age for changing the Citizen Identification Card is stipulated as follows:
The Citizen Identification Card must be renewed when the citizen reaches the age of 25, 40, and 60.
In cases where the Citizen Identification Card is issued, renewed, or replaced within 2 years before the age specified in Clause 1 of this Article, it remains valid until the next card renewal age.
Thus, according to the above regulations, the Citizen Identification Card does not have an expiration date, but the citizen must renew it when they reach the ages of 25, 40, and 60.
