Does the Chip-Based Citizen Identity Card Include the Old Personal ID Number?
Does the chip-attached CCCD card display the old ID card number?
According to Clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 06/2021/TT-BCA, the contents of the chip-attached Citizen Identity Card are specified as follows:

a) The front side of the Citizen Identity Card includes the following information:
- On the left, from top to bottom: The emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 12 mm in diameter; the photograph of the cardholder, sized 20 x 30 mm; Date of expiry;
- On the right, from top to bottom: SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM; Independence - Freedom - Happiness; Citizen Identity Card; chip symbol; QR code; No; Full name; Date of birth; Sex; Nationality; Place of origin; Place of residence;
...
Based on the above regulation, the new CCCD card form issued by the Ministry of Public Security does not display the old ID card number. However, when you convert your old ID card to a chip-attached CCCD, the police authority will issue a certificate of the old ID card number.

The Citizen Identity Card is rectangular with a width of 53.98 mm ± 0.12 mm, a length of 85.6 mm ± 0.12 mm, a thickness of 0.76 mm ± 0.08 mm, and corners rounded with a radius of r = 3.18 mm ± 0.3 mm.
Which agency regulates the shape and size of the Citizen Identity Card?
According to Article 18 of the Law on Citizen Identification 2014:
- The Citizen Identity Card includes the following information:
+ The front side of the card has the emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the phrase Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Independence - Freedom - Happiness; the phrase "Citizen Identity Card"; photograph, card number, full name, date of birth, sex, nationality, place of origin, place of residence; expiry date;
+ The back side of the card contains a storage component for encrypted information, fingerprints, identifying features of the cardholder; date of issue; full name, title, signature of the issuing officer, and the emblem of the issuing authority.
+ The Minister of Public Security specifies the form, other languages, shape, size, and material of the Citizen Identity Card.
