Do I need to amend my passport if I change my chip-based Citizen ID card?
According to Point c, Clause 2, Article 6 of Circular 29/2016/TT-BCA stipulating the dossier for requesting the issuance, amendment, and supplementation of passports, in which:
In case of requesting an adjustment to the personal detail page in the passport (adjusting surname, name; date of birth; place of birth; gender; number of identification card or citizen identification card) for individuals aged 14 and above, one must submit a passport with at least 01 year of validity remaining and legal documents proving the adjustment;
Currently, the passport displays the information of the identification card/citizen identification card. Therefore, in case of changing from identification card to citizen identification card, you should update the information on the passport to ensure consistency. This will avoid difficulties during checks by immigration management authorities and other related agencies during entry and exit processes.
Regarding the dossier, it includes:
- 01 completed X01 form;
- 02 new photos, size 4cm x 6cm, facing forward, bareheaded, without wearing colored glasses, with a white background.
- A passport with at least 01 year of validity remaining and legal documents proving the change from identification card to citizen identification card (new citizen identification card, identification card confirmation document).
Respectfully!
