Changing Middle Name on Birth Certificate According to Marriage Registration – Is It Possible?
According to Article 6 of Decree 123/2015/ND-CP, the value of a birth certificate is stipulated as follows:
- A birth certificate is the original civil status document of an individual.
- All personal records and documents containing information about surname, middle name, first name; date, month, year of birth; gender; ethnicity; nationality; place of origin; relationship between parents and children must be consistent with the individual's birth certificate.
- In cases where the information in personal records and documents differs from the information in the individual's birth certificate, the head of the agency or organization managing the records or issuing the documents is responsible for adjusting the records and documents to match the information in the birth certificate.
=> Therefore, in your case, you can only adjust the middle name in the marriage registration to match the middle name in the birth certificate. According to the regulations, the birth certificate is the original civil status document of an individual, and the head of the agency or organization managing the records or issuing the documents is responsible for adjusting the records and documents to match the information in the birth certificate in case of errors.
