Can women participate in the Self-Defense Militia?

Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 8 of the 2019 Militia and Self-defense Law, the age and duration of the obligation to participate in the Militia and Self-defense Forces during peacetime are stipulated as follows:

Male citizens from 18 years old to the age of 45, and female citizens from 18 years old to the age of 40 are obligated to participate in the Militia and Self-defense Forces; if volunteering to participate in the Militia and Self-defense Forces, it may be extended up to the age of 50 for males and up to the age of 45 for females.

Thus, regarding participation in the Militia and Self-defense Forces, there is no gender distinction as long as one meets the appropriate age and health conditions to fulfill this obligation.
