Amending Birth Certificate According to New Citizen Identity Card?
According to Article 6 of Decree No. 123/2015/ND-CP guiding the Law on Civil Status, the following provisions are in place:
- The birth certificate is the original civil status document of an individual.
- All dossiers and documents of an individual containing information on surname, middle name, first name; day, month, year of birth; gender; ethnicity; nationality; hometown; relationship between parents and child must be consistent with that individual's birth certificate.
- In case the information in the dossier and documents of an individual is different from the information in that individual's birth certificate, the head of the agency or organization managing the dossier or issuing the documents is responsible for adjusting the dossier and documents to match the information in the birth certificate.
=> Therefore, according to the above-stated regulation, in case the information on the birth certificate and the citizen identification card is inconsistent, it will be adjusted according to the information recorded on the birth certificate, as the birth certificate is the original document of the individual.
