Adopted Children and Biological Children, Are Inheritance Rights the Same?

Based on Point a Clause 1 Article 651 of the 2015 Civil Code, the regulation is as follows:

1. Heirs at law are stipulated in the following order:

a) The first line of heirs includes: spouse, biological father, biological mother, adoptive father, adoptive mother, biological children, adopted children of the deceased;

Therefore, in the absence of a will, the estate is distributed according to the law, with the principle that heirs of the same line receive equal portions of the estate. Heirs of subsequent lines can only inherit if there are no heirs in the preceding line.

Thus, based on the aforementioned regulation, it can be observed that adopted children belong to the first line of heirs along with biological children, meaning they are entitled to inherit as biological children do.
