"Do Visitors to Your Home Need to Register Their Temporary Residence?"
Based on Article 30 of the 2020 Law on Residence, the notification of temporary residence is stipulated as follows:
When someone comes to stay, members of the household, representatives of medical treatment facilities, tourism accommodation establishments, and other facilities with lodging functions have the responsibility to notify the lodging to the residence registration authority. In case the person comes to stay at a personal residence or family's house where the individual or family members are not present, the arriving person has the responsibility to notify the lodging to the residence registration authority.
The lodging notification can be done directly, by phone, through electronic means, or other means as regulated by the Minister of Public Security.
The content of the lodging notification includes the full name, personal identification number or identity card number, passport number of the lodger; reason for lodging; duration of lodging; and lodging address.
The lodging notification must be made before 11PM on the day the lodging starts; if the lodging occurs after 11PM, the notification must be made before 8AM the next day. If grandparents, parents, spouse, children, grandchildren, siblings come to stay multiple times, the lodging notification only needs to be done once.
The lodging notification shall be recorded in the lodging receipt book.
