What Requirements Must Household Livestock Production Meet?
On November 19, 2018, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Session XIV, at its 6th meeting, passed the Livestock Law No. 32/2018/QH14 (referred to as the Livestock Law 2018).
The Livestock Law 2018 regulates livestock activities; the rights and obligations of organizations and individuals in livestock activities; state management of livestock.
According to the provisions of Article 56 of the Livestock Law 2018 (which takes effect from January 1, 2020), household livestock raising must meet the following requirements:
- The livestock pen must be separate from the human living area;
- Conduct regular cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of the livestock pen and equipment used in livestock raising;
- Implement appropriate measures for disease prevention hygiene; collect and treat livestock waste, wastewater, animal carcasses, and other livestock waste in accordance with legal regulations on veterinary hygiene and environmental protection.
