What is the Day of the God of Wealth in 2025?
Day of the God of Wealth falls on the 10th day of the first lunar month every year. It is an important day in Vietnamese culture, especially for businesspeople and traders. People believe that this is the day when God of Wealth, the deity in charge of wealth and prosperity, descends to earth to bestow blessings and bring luck and prosperity to the household.
On Day of the God of Wealth, people typically prepare an offering tray that includes incense, flowers, fruits, water, wine, and certain traditional dishes such as roast pork, dumplings, or grilled snakehead fish to worship God of Wealth.
Thus, Day of the God of Wealth in 2025 will be on the 10th day of the first lunar month, corresponding to February 7, 2025, in the Gregorian calendar.

Are employees in Vietnam entitled to paid leave on this day?
Pursuant to Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 regarding public holidays:
Article 112. Public holidays
- Employees are entitled to fully-paid days off on the following holidays:
a) New Year's Day: 1 day (January 1, Gregorian calendar);
b) Lunar New Year: 5 days;
c) Victory Day: 1 day (April 30, Gregorian calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 1 day (May 1, Gregorian calendar);
dd) National Day: 2 days (September 2, Gregorian calendar and 1 day adjacent either before or after);
e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 1 day (10th of the third lunar month).
- Foreign employees working in Vietnam in addition to the holidays prescribed in Clause 1 of this Article are entitled to one traditional New Year of their nation and one National Day of their nation.
- Annually, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam determines specific days off as stipulated at Points b and đ of Clause 1 of this Article.
According to the above regulations, employees receive fully-paid days off on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Lunar New Year
- Victory Day
- International Labor Day
- National Day
- Hung Kings Commemoration Day
Moreover, foreign employees employed in Vietnam are entitled to an additional day off for their traditional New Year and their National Day.
Thus, employees do not receive a day off with full pay on Day of the God of Wealth 2025.
How many days of annual leave do minor employees in Vietnam receive?
Pursuant to Article 113 of the Labor Code 2019 regarding annual leave:
Article 113. Annual leave
- Employees who have worked for a full 12 months for an employer are entitled to annual leave with full pay under the labor contract as follows:
a) 12 working days for employees doing regular work;
b) 14 working days for minor employees, disabled employees, and employees doing heavy, hazardous, or dangerous jobs;
c) 16 working days for employees doing particularly heavy, hazardous, or dangerous jobs.
- Employees who have not worked for a full 12 months for an employer are entitled to annual leave proportionate to the number of working months.
- In case of termination or job loss without having taken all annual leave, the employer must pay wages for the untaken leave days.
- Employers are responsible for specifying the annual leave schedule after consulting with employees and must notify them in advance. employees can negotiate with employers to take annual leave in multiple installments or accumulate leave over a maximum of 3 years.
- If annual leave coincides with payroll cycle, employees are entitled to advance wages as stipulated in Clause 3 of Article 101 of this Code.
- If annual leave involves travel by land, rail, or water taking more than 2 days each way, additional travel time will be granted beyond annual leave for one journey per year.
- The Government of Vietnam shall detail this Article.
According to the above regulations, minor employees who have worked for a full 12 months for an employer are entitled to 14 annual leave days.
Upon completing 5 years of service with an employer, the number of annual leave days increases by 1 day for each additional year. (Regulated in Article 114 of the Labor Code 2019)
