What are requirements for ground-based gas stations in Vietnam?
Gasoline stations on the ground in Vietnam must ensure compliance with the requirements specified in Clause 6, Article 6 of Circular 15/2020/TT-BCT. To be specific:
Besides the requirements from Clause 1 to Clause 5 of this Article, ground-based gasoline stations in Vietnam must meet the following requirements:
a) The distance between different construction items within the gasoline station must not be smaller than specified in Table 2.
Table 2: Minimum distance between construction items within the station
Item | Underground Tank (m) |
Fuel dispencer (m) |
Sales Area (m) |
1. Underground Tank | 0.5 | Not specified | 2 |
2. Sealed Entry | Not specified | Not specified | 3 |
3. Fuel dispencer | Not specified | Not specified | Not specified |
4. Other construction items potentially generating sparks | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Note: 1) No safety distance is specified between the tanks and the sales area on the side of the wall without windows or doors. 2) No safety distance is specified between the fuel dispencers and the building wall, but convenience for installation, operation, and repair must be ensured. |
b) The structure and materials used for the sales area and other construction items must have fire resistance grades I or II in accordance with QCVN 06:2020/BXD, National Technical Regulation on Fire Safety for Buildings and Constructions; must ensure stable load-bearing capability against the impacts of loads and environmental corrosion throughout the lifespan of the construction.
c) Roads and parking lots designated for vehicles entering to buy and deliver goods must meet the following requirements:
- The width of a single-lane road within the station must not be less than 3.5 m. The width of a double-lane road must not be less than 6.5 m.
- Parking lots for gasoline and oil loading and unloading must not be paved with asphalt materials.
d) Gasoline stations adjacent to other constructions must have a closed fence with a height not less than 2.2 m (compared to the internal yard level of the station), made from non-combustible materials. For civilian constructions and other constructions outside the station (excluding flammable or spark-generating production areas and public works) with fire resistance grades I or II, if the wall facing the gasoline station is a fire-resistant partition wall, no safety distance is required from that item to the station fence, but current construction regulations must be adhered to.
dd) If the gasoline pump area has a sales canopy, the canopy height must not be less than 4.75 m.
Sincerely.
