What are conditions for a pig farm in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 55 of the 2018 Animal Husbandry Law stipulating livestock farm must meet the following conditions:

+ be located in the area conformable to the local and regional socio-economic development strategy and breeding development strategy, and meet breeding density requirements specified in Clause 4 and 5 Article 53 hereof;

+ be supplied with adequate water to ensure quality of breeding activities and livestock waste treatment;

+ take measures to protect environment under law provisions on environmental protection;

+ have breeding housing and breeding equipment suitable for each kind of livestock;

+ have its breeding process, use of animal feeds, veterinary medicines and vaccines and other information recorded for the purpose of tracing origin of domesticated animals and retain such record for at least 1 years from the end of breeding period;

+ sets up a safe distance from the farm to objects affected by breeding activities and from the contamination source to the breeding farm.

Note: Any organization or individual running large-scale livestock farms must be granted a certificate of eligibility for animal husbandry.

What are regulations on farm economy criteria in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 3 of Circular 02/202/TT-BNNPTNT regulating farm economy criteria:

1. For specialized farms:

a) Arable farms must have an average production value of at least VND 1,0 billion/year and total farming area of at least 1,0 ha;

b) Fish farms must have an average production value of at least VND 2,0 billion/year and total farming area of at least 1,0 ha;

c) Livestock farms must have an average production value of at least VND 2,0 billion/year and a farming scale provided for in Article 52 of the Law on Animal Husbandry and guiding documents.

d) Tree farms must have an average production value of at least 1,0 billion/year and total farming area of at least 10,0 ha;

dd) Salt farms must have an average production value of at least 0,35 billion/year and total farming area of at least 1,0 ha.

2. Mixed farms must have an average production value of at least VND 2,0 billion/year and total farming area of at least 1,0 ha.
