Waste Management in Household Livestock Farming According to the 2018 Livestock Law
On November 19, 2018, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Session XIV, during its 6th meeting, passed Livestock Production Law No. 32/2018/QH14 (referred to as the Livestock Production Law 2018).
The Livestock Production Law 2018 regulates livestock activities; rights and obligations of organizations and individuals in livestock activities; state management of livestock production.
According to the provisions of Article 60 of the Livestock Production Law 2018 (effective from January 1, 2020), waste treatment in household livestock farming is specifically regulated as follows:
Household livestock owners must comply with the following requirements:
- Implement measures to handle livestock manure, wastewater, and emissions to ensure environmental hygiene and not adversely affect surrounding people;
- Animals that die from disease and other hazardous waste must be treated in accordance with legal regulations on veterinary medicine and environmental protection.
