Lithium battery symbols according to the National Technical Regulation in Vietnam

What are lithium battery symbols according to the National Technical Regulation in Vietnam? What information are required on lithium battery labels in Vietnam?

I intend to trade lithium batteries. I want to learn regulations on above issues. Thank you!

Lithium battery symbols according to the National Technical Regulation in Vietnam

According to Clause 2.3.1 of the National Technical Regulation on lithium batteries for portable devices issued together with the Circular 15/2020/TT-BTTTT, the lithium battery symbols are as follows:

A battery is marked as follows:

N1 A1 A2 A3 N2 / N3 / N4 - N5

where

- N1 is the number of series of cells connected in the battery;

- A1 denotes the negative electrode, where:

I is carbon;

L is lithium metal or lithium alloy;

T is titanium;

X is other elements.

- A2 denotes the positive electrode, where:

C is cobalt;

F is iron;

Fp is iron phosphate;

N is nickel;

M is manganese;

Mp is manganese phosphate;

T is titanium;

V is vanadium;

X is other elements.

- A3 denotes the shape of the cell, where:

R is cylindrical;

P is prismatic;

- N2 is the rounded integer of the maximum diameter (if R) or thickness (if P), unit of measurement is mm;

- N3 is the rounded integer of the maximum width (if P) (N3 is not shown if R), unit of measurement is mm;

- N4 is the rounded integer of the maximum height, unit of measurement is mm;

NOTE: If the size is less than 1 mm, the unit used is 1/10 mm and the single number is written as tN;

N5 is the number of parallel rows of cells, the value is greater than 1 (not shown if the value is 1).

Example 1: ICR19/66 denotes a secondary Li-ion cylindrical cell, with cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum diameter is in the range of 18 mm to 19 mm and the maximum height is in the range of 65 mm to 66 mm.

Example 2: ICP9/35/150 denotes a secondary Li-ion prismatic cell, with cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum thickness is in the range of 8 mm to 9 mm, the maximum width is in the range of 34 mm to 35 mm, and the maximum height is from 149 mm to 150 mm.

Example 3: ICPt9/35/48 denotes a secondary Li-ion prismatic cell, with cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum thickness is in the range of 0.8 mm to 0.9 mm, the maximum width is in the range of 34 mm to 35 mm, and the maximum height is from 47 mm to 48 mm.

Example 4: 1ICR20/70 denotes a secondary Li-ion cylindrical cell with a single cell, with cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum diameter is in the range of 19 mm to 20 mm, and the maximum height is from 69 mm to 70 mm.

Example 5: 2ICP20/34/70 denotes a secondary Li-ion prismatic cell with 2 series of cells connected, cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum thickness is in the range of 19 mm to 20 mm, the maximum width is in the range of 33 mm to 34 mm, and the maximum height is from 69 mm to 70 mm.

Example 6: 1ICP20/68/70-2 denotes a secondary Li-ion prismatic cell with 2 parallel rows of cells, cobalt as the positive electrode, the maximum thickness is in the range of 19 mm to 20 mm, the maximum width is in the range of 67 mm to 68 mm, and the maximum height is from 69 mm to 70 mm.

Example 7: When batteries with different symbols such as ICR19/66 and ICP9/ 35/150 are connected in parallel in the same housing, the marking for this case is (ICR19/66) (ICP9/35/150).

NOTE 2: In addition to the symbols above, other symbols may be used by agreement between the manufacturer and the user.

Above are regulations on lithium battery symbols in Vietnam.

What information are required on lithium battery labels in Vietnam?

According to Clause 2.3.2 of the National Technical Regulation on lithium batteries for portable devices issued together with the Circular 15/2020/TT-BTTTT, the labels lithium batteries must be printed clearly and durably with the following information:

- Li or Li-ion (rechargeable) secondary.

- Battery symbol as specified in Clause 2.3.1.

- Electrode.

- Date of manufacture.

- Manufacturer's name or code.

- Rated capacity.

- Rated voltage.

Above are required information on lithium battery labels in Vietnam.

Best regards!
