What Are the Rights and Obligations of Trade Union Members?
Based on Articles 18 and 19 of the Trade Union Law 2012, the rights and responsibilities are stipulated as follows:
Regarding rights:
Request the Trade Union to represent and protect legal and legitimate rights and interests when infringed upon.
Be informed, discuss, propose, and vote on Union work; receive information on the lines, policies of the Communist Party and laws of the State related to Trade Unions and workers; regulations of the Union.
Nominate, nominate, and elect Union leadership bodies according to the provisions of the Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; question Union leadership officials; propose disciplinary action for Union officials who commit violations.
Receive free legal counsel and assistance from the Trade Union regarding labor laws and trade union laws.
Be guided and assisted by the Trade Union in finding employment, vocational training; receive visits and assistance when sick or in difficult circumstances.
Participate in cultural, sports, and tourism activities organized by the Trade Union.
Propose to the Trade Union to recommend authorities, organizations, and enterprises to implement policies and laws regarding workers.
Regarding responsibilities:
Comply with and implement the Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, resolutions of the Trade Union; participate in union activities and contribute to building a strong trade union organization.
Study and improve political, cultural, professional, and vocational skills; cultivate the qualities of the working class; live and work in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
Unite and assist colleagues to improve their skills, work effectively, and protect the legal and legitimate rights and interests of workers and the trade union organization.
