a. Moral qualities

- Have a clear criminal record, good morals, a healthy lifestyle, and a spirit of internal solidarity to build a strong team.

b. Professional qualifications

- Educational level: Graduated from a vocational school in the field of maritime navigation or higher;

- Work experience: 2 years of work as a sailor;

- Foreign language and computer certificates according to the corresponding rank standards;

- Ranked in the Customs rank, from the rank of Customs Officer to the rank of Customs Inspector.

Subsection 1 and 2, Section 10 of the Regulations on the standards for positions, responsibilities, and tasks; minimum safe crewing of sailors on patrol boats and customs control vessels, issued together with Decision 2328/QD-TCHQ in 2020, stipulate the following duties and responsibilities of drivers on patrol boats and customs control vessels:

1. Duties

Manage, operate, exploit, use, maintain, and repair the vehicles under their management in accordance with the regulations of the Customs Department and the unit.

2. Tasks

- Manage people, vehicles, property, and documents related to the vehicles under their management and use. Have a good understanding of the waterway conditions and safety conditions of the ports and wharves where the vehicles operate.

- Coordinate and implement activities to suppress, arrest violators and vehicles; directly monitor, escort violator vehicles upon request of the competent authority.

- Perform the duty of direct watch, direct shift to ensure safety, prevent fires, explosions, and sinking of the vehicle when the vehicle is anchored, repaired, or covertly on the river or at sea.

- Maintain and repair the hull, deck of the ship, and other machinery and equipment according to the regulations.
