Is a foreign language certificate required for a Grade IV nurse in Vietnam?
Under Clause 2, Article 6 of Joint Circular 26/2015/TTLT-BYT-BNV regulating the standards of training qualifications for Grade IV nurses in Vietnam:
a) Possess an intermediate degree or higher in nursing. In case of possessing an intermediate degree in midwifery or physician assistant, a nursing training certificate is required as per the regulations of the Ministry of Health;
b) Possess a foreign language proficiency level 1 or higher as stipulated in Circular No. 01/2014/TT-BGDDT dated January 24, 2014, issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, promulgating the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam or have a certificate in ethnic minority language for positions requiring the use of ethnic minority languages;
c) Possess an informatics proficiency meeting the basic information technology skills standard as specified in Circular No. 03/2014/TT-BTTTT dated March 11, 2014, issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications on the standard for basic information technology skills.
Thus, according to current regulations, to be a Grade IV nurse, you only need to possess foreign language proficiency level 1. Additionally, for positions requiring ethnic minority languages, you will need an ethnic minority language certificate.
