Increase of the statutory pay rate to 2.34 million VND: What is the salary scale for primary school teachers in Vietnam starting from July 1, 2024?
On June 21, 2024, the Central Executive Committee issued Conclusion 83-KL/TW 2024 by the Politburo on salary reform; adjusting pensions, social insurance allowances, preferential allowances for meritorious individuals, and social allowances from July 1, 2024.
The new salary scale for primary school teachers from July 1, 2024, will implement an adjustment of the statutory pay rate from 1.8 million dong to 2.34 million dong (an increase of 30%) as stipulated in Subsection 2.2 of Section 2 of Conclusion 83-KL/TW 2024.
The salary for primary school teachers is calculated using the formula:
Salary = Coefficient x statutory pay rate
Where: The coefficient is determined in Circular 02/2021/TT-BGDDT and the new statutory pay rate is 2.34 million dong per month.
The coefficient for primary school teachers is currently regulated in Paragraph 1 of Article 8 of Circular 02/2021/TT-BGDDT as follows:
Salary classification:
1. Officials appointed to the positions of primary school teachers specified in this Circular shall apply the corresponding salary scale issued together with Government Decree 204/2004/ND-CP of December 14, 2004, on salary regime for officials, public servants, civil servants, and armed forces personnel, specifically as follows:
a) Grade III primary school teachers, code V.07.03.29, shall apply the salary coefficient of civil servant type A1, ranging from coefficient 2.34 to coefficient 4.98;
b) Grade II primary school teachers, code V.07.03.28, shall apply the salary coefficient of civil servant type A2, group A2.2, ranging from coefficient 4.00 to coefficient 6.38;
c) Grade I primary school teachers, code V.07.03.27, shall apply the salary coefficient of civil servant type A2, group A2.1, ranging from coefficient 4.40 to coefficient 6.78.
