Which Criteria Are Used to Classify Seaports?
According to Article 3 of Decree 76/2021/ND-CP (Effective from September 10, 2021), regulations on criteria for classifying seaports are as follows:
Criteria for evaluating and classifying seaports in Vietnam include: criteria on the scope of influence of seaports and criteria on the scale of seaports.
Criteria on the scope of influence of seaports
The criteria on the scope of influence of seaports are evaluated based on the master plan for the development of the seaport system approved by the competent state authority, through the following indicators:
a) Seaports serving the socio-economic development of the whole country or inter-regional areas and functioning as international transshipment ports or international gateway ports;
b) Seaports serving the socio-economic development of the whole country or inter-regional areas;
c) Seaports serving the socio-economic development of regional areas;
d) Seaports serving the socio-economic development of local areas.
- Criteria on the scale of seaports
The criteria on the scale of seaports are evaluated based on the volume of goods passing through and the size of ships received at the seaports, through the following indicators:
a) The volume of goods passing through seaports;
b) The size of ships received at seaports.
