Pursuant to Clause 15, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP on penalties, point deductions from the driver license for operators of cars, four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines, four-wheeled cargo vehicles with engines, and similar vehicles that violate road traffic laws:
Article 6. Penalties and Point Deductions from Driver Licenses for Operators of Cars, Four-Wheeled Passenger Vehicles with Engines, Four-Wheeled Cargo Vehicles with Engines, and Similar Vehicles Violating Road Traffic Rules

- In addition to monetary fines, operators who commit violations will be subject to the following supplementary penalties:
a) Committing acts specified in Point e, Clause 5 of this Article will also lead to the confiscation of illegally installed and used priority signal devices;
b) Committing acts specified in Clause 12 of this Article will result in the revocation of the driver license for 10 to 12 months;
c) Committing acts specified in Points a, b, c, d of Clause 11; Clause 13; Clause 14 of this Article will result in the revocation of the driver license for 22 to 24 months.

According to the above regulations, car operators committing the following errors will have their driver license revoked:
[1] Revocation of driver license for 10 to 12 Months
- Swerving, weaving on roads
- Racing on roads
- Using feet to control the steering wheel while the vehicle is moving on the road
[2] Revocation of driver license for 22 to 24 Months
- Operating a vehicle on the road with blood alcohol content exceeding 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.4 milligrams/liter of breath
- Failure to comply with alcohol testing requirements from the authorities
- Operating a vehicle on the road with narcotics or other stimulants in the body prohibited by law
- Failure to comply with narcotics or stimulant testing requirements prohibited by law from the authorities
- Committing acts that cause traffic accidents:
+ Swerving, weaving on roads
+ Racing on roads
+ Using feet to control the steering wheel while the vehicle is moving on the road
- Re-offending by swerving, weaving on roads

[3] Class D2 for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with 16 to 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat); passenger vehicles specified for class D2 licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight of up to 750 kg; vehicles specified for class B, C1, C, D1 licenses
[4] Class D for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with more than 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat); sleeper passenger vehicles; passenger vehicles specified for class D licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight of up to 750 kg; vehicles specified for class B, C1, C, D1, D2 licenses
[5] Class BE for drivers of cars specified for class B licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg
[6] Class C1E for drivers of vehicles specified for class C1 licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg
[7] Class CE for drivers of vehicles specified for class C licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg; tractor-trailers
[8] Class D1E for drivers of vehicles specified for class D1 licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg
[9] Class D2E for drivers of vehicles specified for class D2 licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg
[10] Class DE for drivers of vehicles specified for class D licenses pulling a trailer with a total design weight over 750 kg; articulated passenger vehicles
At what age can one obtain a driver license in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 59 of the 2024 Road Traffic Safety and Order Law concerning the age requirement for issuing driver licenses:
- Individuals aged 16 and over are eligible to operate motorcycles
- Individuals aged 18 and over are eligible for driver licenses of classes A1, A, B1, B, C1, and to be granted a certificate of legal traffic knowledge training to operate specialized motorcycles participating in road traffic
- Individuals aged 21 and over are eligible for driver licenses of classes C, BE
- Individuals aged 24 and over are eligible for driver licenses of classes D1, D2, C1E, CE
- Individuals aged 27 and over are eligible for driver licenses of classes D, D1E, D2E, DE
- The maximum age for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with more than 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat) and sleeper passenger cars is 57 years for men and 55 years for women
