What Requirements Must a Railway Station Meet?
Based on Clause 2, Article 16 of the Railway Law 2017 stipulating that railway stations must meet the following requirements:
+ Depending on the station's technical level, a railway station comprises a station building, plaza, warehouse, freight yard, platform, fence, service area, necessary equipment, and other related works for railway operations;
+ A railway station must have a station name and information, and guides for customers. Station names should be unique, and comply with the local place names, history, culture, and customs. At stations on national railways in Grade III or higher urban areas, major stations, and international stations, there must be designated working areas for state management agencies with activities related to railway operations as per approved planning by the competent authority;
+ There must be an emergency escape system; fire prevention and fighting system; electricity supply, lighting, and ventilation systems; water supply and drainage systems; systems ensuring environmental sanitation and other technical requirements of the station;
+ Passenger stations must have structures and equipment guiding access for persons with disabilities and priority subjects as prescribed by law; emergency phone systems, and medical first aid facilities;
+ International intermodal stations and central stations must possess architectural features reflecting the historical and traditional cultural identities of localities and regions. High-speed railway stations must have security control equipment to ensure safety;
+ At national railway stations and urban railway stations, it is permissible to construct business service buildings, commercial offices.
