What is the permissible height for a truck carry cargo in Vietnam?
According to Article 18 of Circular 46/2015/TT-BGTVT, which regulates the height of cargo loading on road vehicles, it is stated that:
1. For open top trucks with a canopy, the allowable cargo loading height is the limited height within the truck body according to the manufacturer's design or the modified design that has been approved by the competent authority.
2. For open top trucks without a canopy, cargo loaded on the vehicle that exceeds the height of the truck body (according to the manufacturer's design or the modified design that has been approved by the competent authority) must be secured, braced, and wedged securely to ensure safety when participating in road traffic. The allowable cargo loading height does not exceed the height specified below, measured from the highest point of the road surface that the vehicle is running on:
a) Vehicles with a cargo carrying capacity of 5 tons or more (recorded in the Vehicle Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the cargo loading height is not more than 4.2 meters;
b) Vehicles with a cargo carrying capacity of 2.5 tons to less than 5 tons (recorded in the Vehicle Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the cargo loading height is not more than 3.5 meters;
c) Vehicles with a cargo carrying capacity of less than 2.5 tons (recorded in the Vehicle Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the cargo loading height is not more than 2.8 meters.
3. Special purpose vehicles and container trucks: the cargo loading height, measured from the highest point of the road surface that the vehicle is running on, is not more than 4.35 meters.
4. In the case of vehicles carrying loose goods, construction materials such as earth, stone, sand, gravel, coal, ore, or similar goods, the cargo loading height does not exceed the height of the truck body recorded in the Vehicle Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate.
Therefore, if your vehicle is currently 6 tons on the registration certificate, the maximum height that you are allowed to load is 4.2 meters, measured from the highest point of the road surface that the vehicle is running on.
