What is a national highway in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1a, Article 39 of the 2008 Law on Road Traffic regulations:
- The road network is divided into six systems, including national highways, provincial roads, district roads, communal roads, urban roads, and dedicated roads, as prescribed below:
- National highways are roads connecting the Capital Hanoi with provincial administrative centers; roads connecting provincial administrative centers of at least three localities; roads connecting international seaports, international airports to international border gates, main border crossings; roads of particularly significant importance to the economic - social development of regions, areas;
The above are the regulations on the road network consisting of 06 systems and the national highways as prescribed above.
