Based on the provisions in Clause 2, Article 12 of Circular 32/2023/TT-BCA, traffic police may request to inspect the following documents when requiring traffic participants to stop their vehicle:
- Driving license
- Certificate of training of legal knowledge on road traffic, certificates for specialized motorcycle operation
- Vehicle registration certificate or a certified copy of the vehicle registration certificate along with the original receipt from the credit institution (while the credit institution holds the original vehicle registration certificate)
- Certificate of technical inspection, safety and environmental protection inspection sticker, confirmation of the validity period of the inspection certificate and inspection sticker (for vehicles subject to mandatory inspection)
- Certificate of compulsory civil liability insurance of motor vehicle owners and other relevant documents as required
In cases where databases are connected to the electronic identification and authentication system, and information on the status of documents can be determined, inspection can be conducted by checking and verifying the information of those documents in the electronic identification account, which is considered equivalent to inspecting the paper documents.

What are the duties of traffic police during patrols in Vietnam?
According to the provisions in Article 7 of Circular 32/2023/TT-BCA, the duties of traffic police during patrols are as follows:
- Comply with the regulations of the law and authorized orders, plans for patrols, control, and handling of violations.
- Patrol, control, and handle violations to ensure road traffic order and safety within the assigned routes and areas.
- Detect, promptly prevent, and handle violations of road traffic regulations and other legal violations as specified; coordinate with road management agencies to detect and prevent violations related to protecting road works and road safety corridors.
- Investigate and settle traffic accidents according to the provisions of the law and the Ministry of Public Security.
- Directly and in coordination with units within and outside the People's Police force, combat and prevent crimes and other legal violations on road traffic routes. Participate in counter-terrorism and anti-disruption activities; prevent and respond to diseases, natural disasters, and fires; participate in rescue and relief operations on road traffic routes as regulated.
- Identify gaps, deficiencies, and shortcomings in state management of security, order, and road traffic, through patrol work, report and propose recommendations to the competent authorities for timely remedies.
- Guide, disseminate, and mobilize the people to ensure road traffic order and safety and comply with the laws on road traffic.
- Perform other tasks of the People's Police force as prescribed.
What are rights of traffic police during patrols in Vietnam?
According to Article 8 of Circular 32/2023/TT-BCA, traffic police during patrols have the following rights:
- Stop vehicles participating in road traffic.
- Control individuals and traffic vehicles, inspect the documents of the vehicle operators, inspect the documents of the traffic vehicles, and inspect the personal documents of the individuals on the traffic vehicles being controlled, in accordance with the provisions of the law. They also have the right to control compliance with road transport safety regulations.
- Apply measures to prevent and handle administrative violations related to road traffic, social order, and other legal violations as prescribed.
- Request the cooperation and support of agencies, organizations, and individuals in resolving accidents, traffic congestion, traffic obstructions, or other situations that disrupt road traffic order and safety.
- In urgent cases to protect national security, ensure social order and safety, or prevent the consequences of ongoing or potential harm to society, traffic police officers performing patrol and control duties have the right to mobilize traffic vehicles, communication equipment, and other means of transportation owned by agencies, organizations, individuals, and the individuals operating or using those means, as regulated by law.
