Vietnam: Is it required to apply for replacement of the driving license in case address on the issued driving license is incorrect?
Under the provisions of Article 37 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, the driving licenses in Vietnam shall be replaced in the following cases:
- A driving license made of hard copy is encouraged to be changed into a driving license made of PET material before December 31, 2020.
- Any person whose driving license remains valid shall renew before the expiry date;
- Any person whose driving license remains valid but is damaged may apply for replacement.
- Any driver reaching 55 (male) and 50 (female) years of age and holding an E class license shall be considered for replacement of license from D class and under if he/she has demanded and is healthy enough.
- If the year of birth, full name, or middle name specified in the driving license shows deviation from the people’s identity card or citizen’s identity card, the license management agency shall carry out procedures on the replacement of driving license in accordance with the information specified in the people’s identity card/citizen’s identity card.
Therefore, incorrect residence information on the driver's license does not fall under any of the above-mentioned cases subject to the replacement of the driving license in Vietnam. Additionally, the incorrect residence information does not affect the usage of the driving license. Therefore, you don't need to apply for replacement of the driving license in Vietnam.
