The meaning of a single short whistle signal from a traffic controller
At Article 7 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 41:2019/BGTVT (effective from July 1, 2020), there are provisions regarding the use of whistle signals in traffic control by traffic police as follows:
- One short whistle is permission to proceed;
Additionally, the regulation also stipulates:
- One long, strong whistle is an order to stop;
- One long whistle and one short whistle is permission to turn left;
- Two short, strong whistles are a signal of danger, slow down;
- Three short, quick whistles are a signal to speed up;
- Continuous, strong, single blows repeatedly are a signal for the vehicle to stop for inspection or to signal a violating vehicle.
