Is it acceptable to present a driver's license to board a plane?
In Appendix XIV issued together with Circular 13/2019/TT-BGTVT regulating identity documents, tickets, and boarding passes, it is stipulated:
Passengers aged 14 years or older when completing procedures to board an aircraft on domestic flights must present:
For passengers with Vietnamese nationality, one of the following documents must be presented: passport or laissez-passer, separate visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, identity card, citizen identification card; identification and certification papers of the People's Public Security, People's Army; National Assembly delegate card; Communist Party member card; journalist card; automobile, motorcycle driver's license; card of the Civil Aviation Security Committee of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee; long-term valid airport and aviation security control card; identification card of Vietnamese airlines; personal identity confirmation paper certified by the ward or commune police where the passenger permanently or temporarily resides (the confirmation paper must include the following information: certifying agency, certifier; date, month, year of certification; full name, date of birth, gender, place of birth, place of permanent residence of the person being certified; reason for certification. The confirmation paper must be affixed with a photo, stamped across the photo and is only valid for 30 days from the date of certification); certification paper from a competent authority certifying that the passenger has just completed serving a sentence.
=> Therefore, according to the above regulations, a driver's license can be presented as a substitute for an identity card to complete boarding procedures.
