Step 1: Access the Online Public Service Portal of the Vietnam Roads Administration via the following link:

What documents must a driver carry when participating in road traffic in Vietnam?

When is a driver license in Vietnam fully restored to 12 points?
According to Article 58 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the provisions regarding the points of a driver license are as follows:
Article 58. Points of a driver license
- The points of a driver license are used to manage compliance with road traffic safety and order laws by the driver on the road traffic safety and order database system, including 12 points. The number of points deducted per violation depends on the nature and severity of the act violating the road traffic safety and order laws. The data on driver license point deductions of violators will be updated into the database system immediately after the penalty decision takes effect and notified to the driver whose license points are deducted.
2. A driver license not fully deducted of points and not having points deducted within 12 months from the date of the most recent point deduction shall be restored to 12 points.
- When a driver license has been fully deducted of points, the person holding the driver license is not allowed to operate a vehicle participating in road traffic according to that driver license. After at least 6 months from the date of full point deduction, the person holding the driver license is allowed to participate in the knowledge test on road traffic safety and order as prescribed in Clause 7, Article 61 of this Law organized by the Traffic Police, and if passing the test with satisfactory results, the license will be restored to 12 points.
