How many hours a day can a car driver drive continuously in Vietnam? When a vehicle for commercial transportation has been registered and issued with a white background license plate, will it be kept the same when changing the license plate in Vietnam? What conditions must an enterprise conducting commercial transportation by car meet in Vietnam?
Hello. In the near future, I have work in my hometown so I want to drive home. From Saigon to my hometown, it will take about 24 hours to arrive. Because it's my first time driving home by myself, I want to ask how many hours a day I can drive continuously?

How many hours a day can a car driver drive continuously in Vietnam?
At Article 65 of the Road Traffic Law 2008 regulates the working time of automobile drivers, as follows:
1. In a day, an automobile driver must work for 10 hours at most and must not be on the wheel for more than 4 hours in a row.
2. Carriers and automobile drivers shall comply with Clause 1 of this Article.
According to the above regulations in Vietnam, within 01 day, your working time cannot exceed 10 hours and you cannot drive continuously for more than 4 hours.

When a vehicle for commercial transportation has been registered and issued with a white background license plate, will it be kept the same when changing the license plate in Vietnam?
According to Article 11 of Circular 58/2020/TT-BCA regulating replacement and re-issuance of the certificate of vehicle registration and license plate, as follows:
1. Subject matters of replacement and re-issuance of certificate of vehicle registration: refurbished vehicle, repainted vehicles, vehicles used for transport business registered for issuance of license plate with white background, black letters and numbers; extension for certificate of vehicle registration; certificate of vehicle registration which is blurry, torn or lost, or change of vehicle owner details (name, address) or vehicle owner wishes to replace the old certificate of vehicle registration with a new certificate of vehicle registration as per this Circular.
2. Subject matters of replacement and re-issuance of license plate: The license plate is blurry, broken, or lost; or the vehicle owner wishes to the replace 3-digit or 4-digit license plate number to 5-digit license plate number; the vehicle used for transport business registered for change from license plate with white background, black letters and numbers to license plate with yellow background, black letters and numbers.
3. Procedures for the replacement or re-issuance of vehicle registration and license plate: The vehicle owner shall submit required documents in Articles 7 and 9 of this Circular, the certificate of vehicle registration (in case of change of certificate of vehicle registration) or license plate (in case of change of license plate), regarding a refurbished vehicle which changes engine subassembly or chassis subassembly, additional documents below are required: Proof of payment of registration fee as regulated, title transfer documentation (in case of change of engine or chassis) as regulated, the origin documentation of engine subassembly or chassis subassembly.
Thus, when an individual vehicle owner engaged in commercial transportation has been registered for a license plate with a white background and black letters and numbers, but when changing to a license plate, it will not be kept the same, but the license plate will be the b yellow, black letters and numbers in Vietnam.
What conditions must an enterprise conducting commercial transportation by car meet in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 1 Article 67 of the Road Traffic Law 2008 stipulates that enterprises, cooperatives and households conducting commercial transportation by car must fully meet the following conditions:
a/ Making registration for commercial transportation by car under law;
b/ Ensuring the quantity, quality and use life of vehicles suitable to the business form; fitting travel monitoring devices on their vehicles according to the Government’s regulations;
c/ Ensuring the number of drivers and attendants suitable to the business plan and signing written labor contracts with them; attendants working on vehicles must be trained in transportation business skills and traffic safety; it is forbidden to employ drivers who are banned from driving under law;
d/ Persons who directly manage transportation activities of enterprises and cooperatives must possess transportation qualifications;
e/ Owning a parking lot suitable to the size of enterprise, cooperative or household, ensuring requirements of order, safely, fire and explosion prevention and fight, and environmental sanitation.
With the above regulations in Vietnam, businesses operating in the transportation business by car must meet the above conditions.
