How Long After Passing the Driving Test Do You Receive Your License?
According to Article 35 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, amended and supplemented by Clause 5, Article 2 of Circular 01/2021/TT-BGTVT, and Point a, Clause 2, Article 12 of Circular 05/2023/TT-BGTVT, the issuance timeline for driving licenses is stipulated as follows:
Issuing New Driving Licenses
Individuals who pass the driving test will be issued a driving license corresponding to the class for which they qualified; in cases of upgrading the license class or reissuing due to expiration as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 36 of this Circular, the original driving license must be presented when receiving the new license.
Based on the decision recognizing the passing of the driving test, the Director General of the Vietnam Road Administration or the Director of the Department of Transport will issue the driving license to the successful candidates.
The passing date recorded on the back of the driving license is the date the decision recognizing the passing test was signed.
3. The driving license must be issued no later than 10 working days from the date the test ended.
- Individuals who pass the test and wish to receive their driving license at home must, within 03 days from the end of the test, register through the online public service system of the Vietnam Road Administration or Department of Transport.
Therefore, after passing the driving test, individuals will receive their driving license no later than 10 working days from the date the test concluded.

What Are the Conditions for Driving Participation in Traffic?
According to Article 58 of the Road Traffic Law 2008, conditions for drivers participating in traffic are stipulated:
Conditions for Drivers Participating in Traffic
- Drivers participating in traffic must meet the age and health requirements stipulated in Article 60 of this Law and have a driving license appropriate to the type of vehicle they are allowed to operate, issued by the competent state authority.
Learner drivers participating in traffic must practice on training vehicles and have an instructor to assist with driving.
- When operating a vehicle, drivers must carry the following documents:
a) Vehicle registration certificate;
b) Driving license for drivers of motor vehicles as stipulated in Article 59 of this Law;
c) Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection compliance for motor vehicles as stipulated in Article 55 of this Law;
d) Civil liability insurance certificate for motor vehicle owners.
Thus, the conditions for driving participation in traffic are:
(1) Meeting the age and health requirements and possessing a driving license appropriate for the type of vehicle they are permitted to operate, issued by the competent state authority.
- Individuals aged 16 and older can drive motorcycles with an engine capacity under 50 cm³;
- Individuals aged 18 and older can drive two-wheeled motorcycles, three-wheeled motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50 cm³ or more, and vehicles with similar structures; trucks, tractors with a payload under 3,500 kg; cars with up to 9 seats;
- Individuals aged 21 and older can drive trucks, tractors with a payload of 3,500 kg or more; B2 class vehicles towing trailers (FB2);
- Individuals aged 24 and older can drive cars with 10 to 30 seats; C class vehicles towing trailers, semi-trailers (FC);
- Individuals aged 27 and older can drive cars with more than 30 seats; D class vehicles towing trailers (FD);
- The maximum age for drivers of cars with more than 30 seats is 50 years for women and 55 years for men.
(2) When operating the vehicle, drivers must carry the following documents:
- Vehicle registration certificate;
- Driving license for drivers of motor vehicles;
- Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection compliance;
- Civil liability insurance certificate for motor vehicle owners.
How Long is the Validity of a Motorcycle Driving License?
According to Article 59 of the Road Traffic Law 2008, the following stipulations apply to driving licenses:

Based on the type of vehicle, engine capacity, payload, and usage, driving licenses are categorized into permanent and temporary licenses.
Permanent driving licenses include the following categories:
a) Category A1 issued to drivers of two-wheeled motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50 cm³ to under 175 cm³;
b) Category A2 issued to drivers of two-wheeled motorcycles with an engine capacity of 175 cm³ or more and vehicles stipulated for Category A1;
