Height limit for loading cargo on open-top trucks
Section 2, Article 18 of Circular 46/2015/TT-BGTVT stipulates the maximum height for loading goods on open-top trucks as follows:
For open-top trucks, when goods are stacked higher than the height of the truck's container (according to the manufacturer's design or approved modification by the competent authority), the goods must be securely fastened, packed, and stabilized to ensure safety while participating in road traffic. The allowable loading height should not exceed the heights specified below, measured from the highest point of the road surface:
- Trucks with a payload capacity of 5 tons or more (as stated in the Vehicle's Technical Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the loading height should not exceed 4.2 meters;
- Trucks with a payload capacity from 2.5 tons to less than 5 tons (as stated in the Vehicle's Technical Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the loading height should not exceed 3.5 meters;
- Trucks with a payload capacity of less than 2.5 tons (as stated in the Vehicle's Technical Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate): the loading height should not exceed 2.8 meters.
Therefore, the allowable height for loading goods on an open-top truck depends on its payload capacity (as stated in the Vehicle's Technical Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate).
Since you have not provided specific information about your vehicle, please refer to the above regulations for accurate application.
Sincerely!
