From January 1, 2025, what vehicles are allowed to be operated with a class C driver license in Vietnam?
Based on Article 57 of the 2024 Road Traffic Safety and Order Law regulating driver licenses:
Article 57. Driver license
- The driver license includes the following categories:
a) Category A1 issued to drivers of two-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity up to 125 cm3 or electric motor power up to 11 kW;
b) Category A issued to drivers of two-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity over 125 cm3 or electric motor power over 11 kW and the types of vehicles stipulated for category A1 driver license;
c) Category B1 issued to drivers of three-wheeled motorbikes and the types of vehicles stipulated for category A1 driver license;
d) Category B issued to drivers of passenger cars up to 08 seats (excluding the driver's seat); trucks and special purpose vehicles with a total design weight up to 3,500 kg; vehicles stipulated for category B driver license towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg;
dd) Category C1 issued to drivers of trucks and special purpose vehicles with a total design weight over 3,500 kg up to 7,500 kg; vehicles stipulated for category C1 driver license towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles stipulated for category B driver license;
e) Category C issued to drivers of trucks and special purpose vehicles with a total design weight over 7,500 kg; vehicles stipulated for category C driver license towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles stipulated for category B and C1 driver licenses;

According to the above regulations, a holder of a category C driver license can operate trucks and special purpose vehicles with a total design weight over 7,500 kg; vehicles stipulated for category C driver license towing trailers with a total design weight up to 750 kg; vehicles stipulated for category B and C1 driver licenses.

At what age can a person in Vietnam be issued a class C driver license?
Based on Article 59 of the 2024 Road Traffic Safety and Order Law regulating the age, health of drivers participating in road traffic:
Article 59. Age, health of drivers participating in road traffic
- The age of drivers, operators of specialized motorbikes is stipulated as follows:
a) Persons aged 16 or older are permitted to operate mopeds;
b) Persons aged 18 or older are issued driving licenses for categories A1, A, B1, B, C1, and are granted a traffic law knowledge certificate for operating specialized motorbikes in road traffic;
c) Persons aged 21 or older are issued driving licenses for categories C, BE;
d) Persons aged 24 or older are issued driving licenses for categories D1, D2, C1E, CE;
dd) Persons aged 27 or older are issued driving licenses for categories D, D1E, D2E, DE;
e) The maximum age for drivers of passenger cars (including buses) over 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat), sleeper passenger cars is 57 for males, 55 for females.

According to the above regulations, persons aged 21 or older are issued class C driver licenses.
How many points are included in the a class C driver license in Vietnam?
Based on Article 58 of the 2024 Road Traffic Safety and Order Law regulating points for a driver license:
Article 58. Points of a driver license
- Points of a driver license are used to manage the compliance with road traffic safety and order laws by drivers in the road traffic safety and order database system, including 12 points. Points deducted per violation depend on the nature and level of the violation of road traffic safety and order laws. The data on license points deducted of the violator will be updated into the database system immediately after the penalty decision becomes effective and notify the license holder of the point deduction.
- A driver license that has not been deducted completely and is not deducted points within 12 months from the last point deduction date will be restored to full 12 points.

According to the above regulations, a class C driver license has 12 points to manage compliance with road traffic safety and order laws by drivers in the road traffic safety and order database system.
Note: The 2024 Road Traffic Safety and Order Law takes effect from January 1, 2025.
