Conversion of Expired Military Driver's License to Civilian Driver's License: Is Retesting Required?
Pursuant to the provisions at Point d, Clause 5, Article 37 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT:
Individuals holding valid military driver's licenses who cease serving in the military (discharged, demobilized, transferred to civilian sector, retired, terminated labor contracts in defense enterprises, etc.) may request to exchange their driver's licenses.
Additionally, Point c, Clause 6 of this Article specifies that the timeframe for exchanging a military driver's license for a civilian driver's license is 06 months from the date of the discharge decision. After this period, the competent authority will not exchange driver's licenses for any cases requesting an exchange.
According to the information you provided, you were discharged in March 2020, as of now, the 6-month period allowing you to exchange your military driver's license for a civilian driver's license has elapsed. Therefore, you must attend and pass the examination for a civilian driver's license relevant to the type of vehicle you operate.
Sincerely!
