Conditions for Upgrading Driver's License from Class B2 to Class D
According to Article 7 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, individuals taking the test to upgrade their driver's license from Class B2 to Class D must meet the following conditions:
- Have at least 5 years of professional driving experience and have driven safely for at least 100,000 kilometers.
- Have a secondary school diploma or an equivalent or higher degree.
Application for License Upgrade Test
According to Clause 2, Article 9 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, those who wish to upgrade their driver's license level must prepare 1 set of documents and submit it directly to the training facility. The application includes:
- Documents specified in Clause 1, Article 9 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT;
- A declaration of professional driving time and the number of safe driving kilometers, using the form specified in Appendix 8 issued with Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, and must be responsible for the content declared before the law;
- A copy of the secondary school diploma or equivalent or higher qualification for those upgrading their driver's license to Classes D, E (the original must be presented when checking the exam dossier).
Additionally, according to Clause 2, Article 19 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, the driver training facility must prepare 1 set of documents and submit it directly to the General Department of Roads of Vietnam or the Department of Transport. The application includes:
- Documents specified in Clause 2, Article 9 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT;
- Training certificate for the license upgrade;
- A list of candidates to be examined for the upgrade prepared by the training facility, containing the names of those who will take the upgrade test.
