What are violations resulting in driver license revocation in Vietnam according to Decree 168?
Based on clause 15 of Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP about penalties, point deductions from the driver license of operators of cars, motorized four-wheeled passenger vehicles, motorized four-wheeled goods vehicles, and similar vehicles infringing on road traffic rules:
Article 6. Penalties and point deductions from the driver license of operators of cars, motorized four-wheeled passenger vehicles, motorized four-wheeled goods vehicles, and similar vehicles violating road traffic rules

- Besides monetary fines, operators committing violations are also subjected to the following additional penalties:
a) Committing violations specified in point e of clause 5 of this Article will result in the seizure of unauthorized priority signaling devices installed and used;
b) Committing violations specified in clause 12 of this Article will result in the revocation of driving license for 10 to 12 months;
c) Committing violations specified in points a, b, c, d of clause 11; clause 13; clause 14 of this Article will result in the revocation of driving license for 22 to 24 months.

Based on clause 12 of Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP about penalties, point deductions from the driver license of operators of motorcycles, mopeds, vehicles similar to motorcycles and mopeds violating road traffic rules:

What is the maximum number of points on a driver license in Vietnam?
Based on Article 58 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 regulating the points system for driver licenses:
Article 58. Points of a driver license
- The points of a driver license are used to manage compliance with road traffic order and safety laws by drivers on the database system for road traffic order and safety, comprising 12 points. The points deducted per violation depend on the nature and severity of the legal infringement regarding road traffic order and safety. The data on deducted points from the violating driver license will be updated in the database system immediately after the penalty decision takes effect and is informed to the driver whose license points are deducted.
According to these provisions, a driver license can have a maximum of 12 points used to manage compliance with road traffic order and safety laws on the database system.

What are cases for verifying a driver license in Vietnam?
Based on Article 33 of Circular 35/2024/TT-BGTVT regulating cases for verifying driver licenses:
- Issuing, renewing driver licenses issued by the Transport sector
- Converting military driver licenses issued by the Ministry of Defense to those issued by the Transport sector
- Converting police driver licenses to those issued by the Transport sector
