Cars Driving in Opposite Direction Causing Traffic Accidents: How Many Months of License Suspension?
Point a Clause 7 Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP stipulates:
A fine ranging from VND 10,000,000 to VND 12,000,000 shall be imposed on the driver of a vehicle who commits one of the following violations:
a) Not paying attention to observation, driving the vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed limit causing a traffic accident; stopping the vehicle, parking, turning around, reversing, avoiding vehicles, overtaking, changing direction, changing lanes not conformable causing a traffic accident; not driving in the correct lane, not maintaining the safe distance between two vehicles as prescribed causing a traffic accident or entering a road with a sign prohibiting entry for the type of vehicle being driven, going in the opposite direction on a one-way street, going in the opposite direction on a road with a "No reverse entry" sign causing a traffic accident, except for violations specified at point a clause 8 of this Article;
Point c Clause 11 of this Article also stipulates: In addition to being fined, the driver who commits the violation shall also be subject to the following additional penalties:
Committing the act specified at point c clause 5; point a, point b clause 6; clause 7 of this Article shall result in the suspension of the driver's license from 02 months to 04 months.
Thus, according to the above regulations, in the case of a car driver going in the opposite direction on a one-way street causing a traffic accident, the driver's license will be suspended from 02 months to 04 months.
