Can a Photocopy of the Citizen Identification Card with Certification be Used for Air Travel?
Based on Clause 2, Clause 5, Section I of Appendix XIV issued together with Circular 13/2019/TT-BGTVT stipulating the documents concerning personal identification, tickets, and boarding passes as follows:
- Passengers aged 14 years or older when completing procedures for domestic flights must present:
b) For passengers with Vietnamese nationality, one of the following documents must be presented: a passport or laissez-passer, detached visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, identity card, citizen identification card; proof of identity, certification from the people's police, people's army; National Assembly Deputy card; Communist Party member card; reporter card; automobile, motorcycle driver's license;.......
- Documents for passengers used when boarding as stipulated in clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this Appendix must meet the following conditions:
a) It must be the original and still valid;
b) For birth certificates and birth announcements, it must be the original or a certified copy as prescribed by law;
c) Documents specified in clauses 1, 2, 3, 4 of this Appendix will not be accepted if the document does not have a photo or the photo is not in accordance with legal regulations, except for birth certificates, birth announcements, and documents from competent authorities proving escorted travel.
=> According to the above regulations, the Citizen Identification Card (CCCD) presented for air travel must be the original and still valid. Therefore, a certified photo copy of the CCCD will not be accepted for air travel.
However, you can use a passport, National Assembly Deputy card; Communist Party member card; reporter card; automobile, motorcycle driver's license, etc. (original, still valid) for air travel.
