Are Electric Bicycles Required to Have License Plates?
Based on Clause 3, Article 53 of the Road Traffic Law 2008, one of the conditions for motor vehicles to participate in traffic is that motor vehicles must be registered and have license plates issued by a competent state authority.
Based on Clause 18, Article 3 of this law, it is stipulated as follows:
Road motor vehicles (hereinafter referred to as motor vehicles) include cars; tractors; trailers or semi-trailers pulled by cars or tractors; two-wheeled motorcycles; three-wheeled motorcycles; mopeds (including electric bicycles) and similar vehicles.
Thus, according to the above regulations, since electric bicycles are not motor vehicles, they are not required to have license plates when participating in traffic.
