Are Elderly Employees Permitted to Drive Trucks Under 3 Tons?
According to Clause 7 Article 16 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT regulating the classification of driver’s licenses, specifically:
For Class B2, granted to professional drivers to operate the following types of vehicles:
- Specialized automobiles with a designed load of less than 3,500 kg;
- Types of vehicles regulated for Class B1 driver’s license.
At Point Clause 1 Article 60 of the Law on Road Traffic 2008, individuals aged 18 years and older are permitted to drive two-wheeled motorcycles, three-wheeled motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50 cm3 or more and similarly constructed vehicles; trucks, tractors with a load of less than 3,500 kg; passenger cars with up to 9 seats.
And according to the regulations in Clause 3 Article 17 of this Circular, the validity period of a Class B2 Driver's License is 10 years from the date of issuance.
Thus, currently, the law does not specifically provide age limitations for drivers of automobiles under 3 tons. Therefore, if your father's driver’s license is still valid and meets health conditions, he can still drive.
Respectfully!
