Are driver licenses in Vietnam red or yellow?
Pursuant to Article 32 of the Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT (amended by Clause 1.a Article 12 of the Circular 05/2023/TT-BGTVT) stipulating driver licenses as follows:
Driver license form
1. Driver license forms are prescribed in Appendix 17 enclosed herewith.
2. Department for Roads of Vietnam shall design confidentiality, print, issue, instruct and manage use of licenses nationwide.
Pursuant to Appendix 17 issued with the Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT (amended by Clause 13, Article 1 of the Circular 01/2021/TT-BGTVT) stipulating the model motorcycle driver license as follows:

a) Dimensions: 85.6 x 53.98 x 0.76 mm (according to ICAO Standard type ID-1).
b) Title "DRIVER LICENSE", "TYPES OF ROAD MOTOR VEHICLES", word "No." and "Admission Date" are in red, other words are printed in black.
c) The driver's photo taken on a blue background is printed directly on the driver license.
d) There is a security coating on both sides of the driver license.
dd) The billet is made of PET material or a material of equivalent technical standards, with a straw yellow pattern and security symbols.
e) Having a QR code to quickly read and decode information on the driver license and link it to the driver license management information system.
Thus, a motorbike driver license is yellow on both sides with dimensions of 85.6 x 53.98 x 0.76 mm.
Do A1, A2, A3 class driver licenses in Vietnam have validity period?
Pursuant to Article 17 of the Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT (amended by Clause 3 Article 2 of the Circular 01/2021/TT-BGTVT) stipulating validity period of driver licenses as follows:
Validity period of driving licenses
1. Class A1, A2, A3 driver licenses have no expiration date.
2. Class B1 driver license is valid until the driver is 55 years old for women and 60 years old for men; In case the driver is over 45 years old for women and over 50 years old for men, the driver's license is issued for a period of 10 years, from the date of issue.
3. Class A4, B2 driver licenses are valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
4. Class C, D, E, FB2, FC, FD, FE driver licenses are valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
5. The driver license validity period is written on the driver license.
Thus, driver licenses A1, A2, A3 do not have an expiration date.
Who shall be issued to A1, A2 class driver licenses in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 16 of the Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT stipulating classification of driver licenses as follows:
Classification of driver licenses
1. A1 class licenses issued to:
a) Persons controlling two-wheeled motorbikes with cylinder volume from 50 cm3 to less than 175 cm3;
b) Disabled controlling motor tricycles intended for the disabled.
2. A2 class licenses issued to persons controlling two-wheeled motorbikes with cylinder volume from 175 to cm3 and over and other types of vehicles intended for A1 class.
3. A3 class licenses issued to persons controlling motor tricycles, vehicles intended for A1 class and similar vehicles.
4. A4 class licenses issued to persons controlling small tractors with loading capacity up to 1,000 kg.
5. B1 class (automatic transmission) issued to persons who do not practice as a driver for controlling following types of cars:
a) Automatic transmission 9-seat cars including driver seat;
b) Trucks, including special trucks (automatic transmission) with design loading capacity less than 3.500 kg;
c) Cars intended for the disabled.

As regulations above, A1, A2 class driver licenses shall be issued to:
- A1 class licenses issued to: Persons controlling two-wheeled motorbikes with cylinder volume from 50 cm3 to less than 175 cm3; Disabled controlling motor tricycles intended for the disabled.
- A2 class licenses issued to persons controlling two-wheeled motorbikes with cylinder volume from 175 to cm3 and over and other types of vehicles intended for A1 class.
