What are contents of the international cooperation on road traffic order and safety in Vietnam?
According to Article 8 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the international cooperation on road traffic order and safety is regulated as follows:
Article 8. International Cooperation on Road Traffic Order and Safety
- Implement international cooperation on road traffic order and safety based on compliance with the laws of Vietnam and the relevant international treaties of which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member; respect the fundamental principles of international law; ensure the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the homeland; protect the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
- The content of international cooperation on road traffic order and safety includes:
a) Signing international treaties and agreements related to road traffic order and safety;
b) Exchange of information, transfer of technology related to road traffic order and safety;
c) Training, rehearsals, capacity building for the force ensuring road traffic order and safety;
d) Enhancing material conditions to ensure road traffic order and safety;
dd) Resolving road traffic accidents;
e) Implementing other international cooperation content in accordance with Vietnam's laws and relevant international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member.
- The Ministry of Public Security shall take the lead and cooperate with related ministries and sectors in assisting the Government of Vietnam in negotiating, signing international treaties or proposing competent authorities to sign international treaties, agreements on road traffic order and safety; take the lead and cooperate with related ministries and sectors in implementing international cooperation on road traffic order and safety.
Thus, the content of international cooperation on road traffic order and safety includes:
- Signing international treaties and agreements related to road traffic order and safety
- Exchange of information, transfer of technology related to road traffic order and safety
- Training, rehearsals, capacity building for the force ensuring road traffic order and safety
- Enhancing material conditions to ensure road traffic order and safety
- Resolving road traffic accidents
- Implementing other international cooperation content in accordance with Vietnam's laws and relevant international treaties of which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member
What are the general rules when participating in road traffic in Vietnam?
According to Article 10 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the general rules when participating in road traffic are as follows:
- Road traffic participants must keep to the right in their direction, travel in the correct lane, on the designated road section, and comply with road signs and other road traffic rules.
- Drivers and passengers in automobiles must fasten their seat belts at positions where seat belts are equipped while participating in road traffic.
- When carrying children under 10 years old and under 1.35 meters tall in an automobile, children must not sit in the same row as the driver unless it is a one-row seat automobile; the driver must use or guide the use of appropriate safety devices for children.
Note: The Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 will take effect from January 1, 2025.
