According to the regulations on the management and operation of vehicle weight inspection stations on roadways, what is a vehicle weight inspection station?

Based on Clause 1, Article 2 of Circular 34/2021/TT-BGTVT stipulating the interpretation of the term Vehicle Weight Control Station as follows:

Vehicle Weight Control Station includes fixed Vehicle Weight Control Stations, portable Vehicle Weight Control Stations (hereinafter referred to as Stations) which are places where the road management authority collects, analyzes, and assesses the impact of vehicle weight and vehicle dimension limits on road safety; inspects and handles violations regarding vehicles over the weight limit, exceeding the dimension limits of bridges and roads, exceeding the permissible traffic load, and tracked vehicles operating on roads.

Additionally, Article 3 of Circular 34/2021/TT-BGTVT stipulates general principles in managing the operation of vehicle weight control stations on roads as follows:

- The activity of checking vehicle weight on roads is conducted publicly, objectively, and in compliance with the law.

- The inspection of vehicle weight on roads is carried out through:

+ Fixed vehicle weight control stations with a system of fixed-installed weighing devices for motor vehicle weight inspection on roads, imaging equipment, and other auxiliary devices;

+ Portable vehicle weight control stations with a system of non-fixed installed weighing devices for motor vehicle weight inspection on roads and other auxiliary devices;

+ Fixed-installed motor vehicle weight inspection scales on roads; independently or combined with toll stations;

+ Portable motor vehicle weight inspection scales (portable scales) of the competent authorities;

+ The monitoring system and centralized management of vehicle weight data of the transport sector on all road systems nationwide managed, operated, and utilized by the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as Vehicle Weight Control Data Management System of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam);

+ Professional measures by competent authorities to impose administrative penalties according to lawful provisions.
